Candi Wingate of Nannies4Hire is our Featured Guest on 11-4-09

As the former nanny for a couple with five children, Candi Wingate quickly learned about the needs of a modern day family. Her family’s daily routine began with getting the children up and dressed, feeding them breakfast, packing lunches, making sure all teeth and hair were properly brushed, and then shuttling them out the door to school. This was performed almost entirely before sunrise!

Then there was: grocery shopping, cleaning house, doing laundry, feeding the babies (newborn twins), putting them down for a nap, getting them up, running errands, and getting a jump on dinner before the big kids came home just…so…she…could…help with homework, help with dinner, wash the dishes (and the kids!) and, finally, place them securely in bed with lots of hugs and kisses.

As a nanny, Candi gave these parents the support they needed to keep their children healthy and happy. She gave them the gift of stress relief, increased job performance, happy children…a happy family. And then another miracle, she says…“I became divinely inspired with the gift of match making, matching families with the right nanny or babysitter for their children.”

It was 1994 and Candi, now a wife, purchased her very own nanny placement agency. Soon after, Nannies4Hire.com was born. Based in Nebraska and serving all of the U.S. and Canada, this booming online database registry serves more than 500,000 families, nannies, and babysitters. “Years ago, families spent around $800 – $5,000 for an agency to place a nanny in the home.

Now you simply go online, bring up your zip code, and find a whole list of providers looking for a position. It’s a huge money saver and, with the economy being what it is, having a nanny makes it easier for families to accomplish all of today’s demands.”

The database is designed to assist families in finding a quality nanny for their specific needs and, likewise, to offer nannies an enjoyable employment experience. A free preview of available nannies is viewable to families, whether you’re looking for full or part-time, temporary, seasonal, live-in or live-out nannies, or elderly/companion care.

While there’s no fee to look, Candi says, “Once you become a paying registered member, then you gain access to contact information and advanced search features. Tools are also available to registered families and nannies, including sample interview questions, a sample reference form and a sample contract.”

Don’t be surprised if Nannies4Hire.com sounds familiar. This skyrocketing agency has been featured on The Dr. Phil Show, Super Nanny, and on TLC’s show John and Kate Plus 8. Ready for the next level, Candi launched Care4Hire.com, a database registry for personal assistants, tutors, eldercare, and other services. “We want to empower families,” says Candi, “to know the right questions to ask when hiring a caregiver and to feel comfortable checking references and backgrounds so they know their loved ones are safe.

We also want them to know it’s ok to ask for help, especially given today’s lifestyles and environments which put more stress on a family than ever before. In the long run, having a nanny or a caregiver benefits the entire family by making a household run much smoother.”

You don’t want to miss this opportunity to talk to Candi up close and personal!

Intern Queen Lauren Berger is Nominated for BusinessWeek Best Entrepreneur

laurenbergerquarterlifepicOur friend, Lauren Berger(a/k/a Intern Queen) has been nominated and is now a finalist for Business Week’s annual, 25 of America’s Best Young Entrepreneurs 25 and Under. There are 25 finalists selected and from that amount they pick only a handful of winners. It’s a voting competition so whoever gets the most votes wins.

“This competition is a dream come true for me and I would really appreciate your support and any ideas you might have to help get the word out”, asks Lauren.

Lauren is such a delightful and talented young lady who would benefit immensely from this competition.  She spends her time helping college students land internships as a means to increase their skills.  This is an incredible program and one that I use on a routine basis.

Beth Ann VanHoose of OurSoldiers.org will be Our Featured Guest on 10-21-09

beth-ann-vanhoose-picture

One the great perks about having a weekly Internet radio show is the wonderful people I get the honor to meet.  This show is no exception!  When Beth Ann’s information crossed my desk, I gave little to no thought on whether or not she would benefit the DivaTalkRadio listening audience.  Being extremely passionate about our military soldiers and their families, it was a must to get her scheduled for an upcoming show.

Additionally, reading her story just thrills me that much more that she will be our Featured Guest on October 21, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. EST.

Here’s Beth Ann’s story…you’re gonna fall in love with her and her mission, I guarantee it!

beth-ann-vanhoose-pictureDan and I grew up in the small Midwest town of Collinsville, Illinois where we were married in 1989. I relocated to Tacoma, Washington to join Dan at McChord Air Force Base, where he served in the Unites States Air Force. Dan was honorably discharged in 1993 after being diagnosed with chronic ulcerative colitis and the military decided he was no longer physically able to serve his country.

The process of separating from the service, at least in 1993, was a very interesting process, Dan went to a series of appointments, signed a few papers, received a stack of the papers that they said would help us transition to civilian life, and sent us on your way. Not only was Dan burdened with a life threatening illness, we were both emotionally and financially stressed.

After much deliberation, we decided to move back home to Illinois so we could utilize the best resources we could find… our family, friends and one of the top colon specialists in the country. We left Tacoma with very little to our name, but were determined to get Dan better and start a family.

Today, 16 years later, we have two beautiful daughters, a healthy Dan (without a colon), a beautiful home in Mesa, Arizona and many wonderful friends. Friends like Tim and Nicole Little, who have shared their lives with us, inspiring us to make a difference and help other soldiers and families like themselves. The best way I know how to do this is to raise awareness about the need and raise funds for USA Cares.

About the Home Sweet Home Campaign – TShirts 4 Soldiers

The Home Sweet Home Campaign’s TShirts 4 Soldiers helps connect people with their deployed family and friends while helping post 9/11 wounded war veterans here at home. The Home Sweet Home campaign has pledged to raise $1 million dollars for USA Cares, a 501(c)3 organization. For every TShirt sold, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to USA Cares Warrior Treatment Today Program.

Whew, what a story and mission! Beth Ann’s website is http://OurSoldiers.org.  Please visit her site, listen to our show, and see what you can do to honor this mission.

As always, DivaTalkRadio airs every Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. EST and Beth Ann will be featured on October 21, 2009.(http://DivaTalkRadio.com/live)

That’s it for now. I’ll ‘see’ YOU at the show!
