The Chamberlain Negotiation Principles with Jared Kelner

jared_kelner

The Chamberlain Negotiation Principles: A Tale of Five Must Know Negotiation Tenets and the Insight Behind the Principles to Help You Succeed is a negotiation/business fable that teaches five critical negotiation tenets through a touching & poignant story about Richard, a young man struggling to start his sales career who finds success by befriending Chamberlain, an elderly subway dweller who holds the negotiation secrets young Richard desperately seeks.  Woven throughout the book are five in-depth nonfiction analysis chapters that expand & explore the negotiation tenets presented in the fable.  The Chamberlain Negotiation Principles is a creative and valuable negotiation resource that will touch your heart and challenge your mind.

The Chamberlain Negotiation Principles is an excellent book not just for business professionals looking to enhance their negotiation skills, but the fable format is perfect for anyone interested in learning about negotiations that normally would shy away from the typical non-fiction business “How-To” books.

Celebrate Your Child’s Talents with a Resume’

Kris_Manley_on_DivaTalkRadio

Celebrate your child’s talents, gifts, accomplishments, awards and even challenges. How? Glad you asked – by developing their resume.

Choosing activities that provide your child with life skills as well as build character is a key element to their success. Documenting those is also a key element to their success. Why? Keeping before them a present visual reminder of their activities, awards, accomplishments, gifts, talents, etc., gives encouragement and pride in what they do and have done. It also allows them to see how well they have progressed over the years. In other words, you will assist your child in “behaving” their way to success.

A resume for a child:

* Boosts self-esteem
* Presents a child in such a way that others will want to invest in that child
* Shows that a child’s accomplishments go beyond his or her report card
* Affirms the importance of what a child does

Kris Manley wrote this wonderful guide, Resumes for Children – 17 Years Old and Under, because she saw a missing piece. Parents talk about their children’s activities, accomplishments, awards, and challenges, but most parents don’t document them. Resumes for Children – 17 Years Old and Under gives parents a great start because a child will someday need a resume. So let’s be proactive and begin early.

Join the Divas as they talk with Kris Manley on the next DivaTalkRadio.

Retired and Living Her Dream

book1

SHOW RECAP:

One of the things that we enjoy doing on DivaTalkRadio is giving new authors the opportunity to share their books with our Loyal Diva Listeners. When the information about this author came across my desk, I knew that her story would be ideal to share. What caught my eye is this message from Patsy…

“My name is Patsy Henry, and although I am 65 and retired, I am in a good place.  Two years ago I wrote and had two books published about my bunnies.  At this point, I have 3 books in the “My Hare Line” series and a 4th one in the editing process.  What an awesome place to be at this point in my life!!!  I have had all sorts of rewarding experiences.  Who would have thought??  I look forward to hearing from you.”

How could I not book her to be on the show? I love how she is living out her dream of writing books on her beloved bunnies. I can totally see me writing books about my pet chickens…hmmm, don’t get me started! :)

Author Patsy Henry came by and shared her sweet spirit and story with us on DivaTalkRadio all about her journey and even  getting published telling her stories about Bunny Rabbits. More proof that following your passion can lead to good things.

Also, we are so excited to announce that we have filled 478 shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child, nearly reaching our Mission 500 Goal of five hundred. THANK YOU DIVAS!

Here’s more information about Patsy’s books. They are a joy to read!
When you were a child, did you have a pet?  My Hare Line author, Patsy M. Henry, was from a hard working farm family, and there was no time or money for pets. The thought of having one never entered her mind.  At the age of fifty-seven, her husband surprised her with a rabbit for Easter.  Follow along as the author takes you on an emotional ride as she learns how to take care of Bunny Rabbit.  She adds Jack and Flopsey to the family and the action picks up.  Emotions run high as two dogs attack the rabbits.  Our author develops a love and strong bond unlike any she had known before.  My Hare Line tells the story of their sometimes-bumpy ride.

My Hare Line Meets the Brown Rabbit came to life when a wild rabbit named Brownie moved to a new home under a holly bush in the front yard of a big house.  Emotions heighten as she discovers a prison camp in the back yard.  Rather than leave, Brownie bravely decides to observe Mr. and Mrs. Warden as they run the prison camp even though her granddad taught her to hide when humans are around.  My Hare Line Meets The Brown Rabbit tells the delightful story of Brownie’s investigation of the prison camp and the Wardens.

Have you ever been afraid of something and not be able to explain your fear? That’s exactly what Rascal experiences in My Hare Line and the Dead Pine Tree. He realizes that the tree in his pen is dead. He tries to communicate this to Mr. And Mrs. Warden, but they do not understand. Read along as Rascal takes action to avoid being hurt by the dead pine tree.

After the tree fell and knocked the fence down, Brownie asked Rascal if anyone escaped. Rascal thought this was the silliest thing he had ever heard. As usual, Rascal talked to Aunt Paula Rabbit about what Brownie had said to him. That’s when he learned about his adventurous family.

Review: Applebees, Glasgow, Kentucky

applebees

Living rurally has its pros and cons, and I’m convinced that the pros certainly outweigh the cons. However, one of the cons is not having dine-in restaurant chains closer to where we live other than a handful of fast food. Since yesterday was a no-school day for my son, I decided to take him and my mom to Applebees, which was 84 miles round trip. We are a fan of Applebees and were happy to make the journey.

We arrived at Applebees in the middle of lunchtime, at 12:15 p.m. and a scan of the tables represented approximately 70% full. We were greeted by a nice young man who welcomed us, then taken over by an older woman who had the attitude that she could careless if we were there or not. We asked for a booth, which by her huffing while looking at what was available, it was clear that our request annoyed her in some way.

The nice young man seated us and said that our server would be with us shortly. After approximately 10 minutes and two trips to the bathroom (the car ride was long for mom), we still did not see sight of a server. In observing the tables immediately around us, the three (3) booths to our left were empty, and the two tables in front of us had finished their meals and were chatting.

After another 5 minutes, the older woman came over to our table and asked for our drink order. By this time, mom was asking for a drink every 2 minutes (she has Alzheimer’s and forgot that she just asked). It took another 7 minutes for us to get our drink order, which represents a 22 minute wait just to get our initial drinks.

Because we had so much time to wait prior to getting our drinks, we were ready to order our food. The server arrived at our table shortly after receiving the drinks and if she told us her name, I didn’t capture it and she wasn’t wearing a name tag. Mom and Spencer (my son) decided to order off the 2 for $20 menu. Spencer ordered the chicken tenders platter, mom wanted the Chicken Fettuccine Carbonara, and the boneless chicken wings as an appetizer. I decided on the Cowboy Burger, and order the Appetizer Sampler for the three of us to share. Hey, I have growing teenage son…he loves food!

The appetizers came out within a reasonable time and the server saw that my son’s drink needed to be refilled. The boneless chicken was scrumptious. The mozzarella sticks were crispy and the cheese was perfectly stringy. The Spinach & Artichoke Dip was hot and tasty. However, the Cheese Quesadillas were cold to the point that the cheese was not melted. I sat them aside and was not going to mention it since the rest of the appetizers were delicious. I had to remind the server to refill my son’s drink and by that time both mine and my mom’s drink needed refilling. Unfortunately our server never showed up with refills.

Again, the restaurant was not packed, and even if it was…having to wait and ask multiple times for refills is poor service.

The entrees also came out within a reasonable time. I asked the server who delivered the entrees for drink refills. Again, we waited approximately 5 minutes and no refills. At this time, the manager (Dustin) was walking by and I called out to him and asked if he was the manager. He acknowledged that he was and I shared with him my substandard service. Even though I was not going to originally mention the Cheese Quesadillas, I did when speaking with him.

The manager was gracious and took our drink order for refills. Our server then came to the table and asked me “is he getting your drinks or do I have to?” I was stunned and didn’t know what to say. I simply said to her “I’m not sure, perhaps you should go check.” A few minutes later, our server brought the drinks and made the excuse that they were busy. Dustin, the manager came over and gave me the same excuse, but then took it one step further and blamed that it was an election day. More about my thoughts on the excuses in a moment.

Dustin offered to bring out another order to Quesadillas, for which I was grateful, but not necessary as we were ready to leave. Mom was getting anxious. He did, however, remove the Appetizer Sampler from my bill. Again, I’m grateful and appreciated the jester.

Here’s my two cents on the slow service and the excuses made by both the server and the manager.

Stop insulting our intelligence and stop…please stop making excuses. Dustin, as the manager, you must set an example for your employees to follow. They see you making worthless excuses, they are going to do the same. It was obvious that half way through out meal, there were less patrons than when we first arrived, and still not full to capacity. Do not make excuses that you were “busy” as that tells me that the other patrons had priority over us. That’s simply poor business procedures by excuse making. An then to tell me that it was also an “election day”…sheesh, what does that have to do with anything.

The fact is, if you are too busy to handle your customers then perhaps revisiting your operating procedures is in order. There is absolutely no reason for a customer to have to wait for a refill, and then to make excuses of being too busy just adds salt to the wounds.

As mentioned in the beginning, we traveled 84 miles, round trip, to visit this Applebees, and it was disappointing in the level of service received.

Location:
Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar
100 Max Wagner Drive
Glasgow, KY 42141
Phone: (270) 678-3325
Manager: Dustin
Server: Not sure, but the name on the receipt is Carolyn H.

Review: Natural Dish Soap from Seventh Generation

sg_logo

It is no secret that I am NOT a domestic goddess. In fact, just the thought of going grocery shopping brings on an instant migraine. I would rather be building something in my workshop than whipping up a casserole in the kitchen. If hubby wants new kitchen cabinets, I’m all over it. If he wants fried chicken, we end up at KFC.

Don’t get me we wrong, I love a clean house that smells so fresh. So when I was asked to do a review for natural dish soap I was a bit hesitant because that would mean I’d have to wash dirty dishes (yucko!), and besides all dish soap is the same…right?

seventh generation on divatalkradioWell, let me be the first to tell you that I am wrong! All dish soap is not the same. From the moment I squirted Seventh Generation’s dish liquid into the water, the aroma was clean and fresh. The dishes seemed to sparkle more and my hands were so soft. Usually I need lotion after putting my hands in soapy water, not after doing dishes with Seventh Generation.

The power of scent is remarkable. It can have positive effects on your mood, reduce stress, and even help you sleep better. But not all scents are created equal. The fruit, floral and herbal ingredients used to create the scents in Seventh Generation’s new natural dish liquid come from fields, not factories.

Seventh Generation dish liquid contains only essential oils and botanical extracts, and delivers real cleaning power. Your tableware will be left fresh and ready to serve your next home cooked meal.

With authentic ingredients like lavender from the fields of Drome in the foothills of the Alps, clementines from sunny Calabria and lemons from the soils of Sicily, Seventh Generation natural dish liquid is free of unnecessary synthetic colors or chemically engineered scents.

DID YOU KNOW…If every household in the U.S. replaced just one bottle of 25 oz. petroleum-based dishwashing liquid with our plant-derived product, we could save 5.2 MILLION gallons of oil, the equivalent to removing 11,000 cars from the road for one year.

I can honestly say that I am a true fan of Seventh Generation and will continue to use their products. Another thing that impresses me is their mission. I love how they are stepping up the plate and doing their part to make a difference in our world. Love it, love it, love it!

Now, don’t take my word for it…try Seventh Generation out for yourself. Thanks to Seventh Generation and MyBlogSpark, I have the opportunity to give out an incredible prize pack to one lucky winner.

Seventh Generation Natural Dish Liquid prize pack will contain:

  • (4) bottles of Seventh Generation natural dish liquid varieties in Free & Clear, Lavender Floral & Mint, Fresh Citrus & Ginger, and Lemongrass & Clementine Zest scents

SHOW RECAP: Hear from Cheryl Bannerman PLUS catch up on our exciting goals for our Operation Christmas Child!

Despite finding herself divorced and raising a special needs child on her own, dealing with the death of two brothers due to drugs, this Diva has pulled herself out of a traumatic situation and found victory. When everything looked bleak, she found blessings.

In her new book, Black Child to Black Woman (a ‘live diary’), Cheryl (McNeil) Bannerman discusses an experience that will grab your attention right from the start. The character, Tara Walker, speaks directly to the reader as she adds entry after entry into her Journal. She documents her experiences, her family life, her triumphs, as well as her interpretation of life and the world as she saw it. As she grows, so does the language and tone of the diary, which matches her maturity and speech patterns as the time passes.

Experiences are mere images engraved in our minds that we recall when future events occur such as a tragedy or even when a song is playing on the radio. Tara has captured those moments in time in her diary, even the painful ones. Although she came from a loving home with both parents, she struggled to come to grips with siblings addicted to drugs, molestation, attempted rape, broken hearts, and so much more.

Her diary experiences will make you laugh, cry, scream, sigh, and gasp aloud. As Tara struggles to keep her head above water and fight through the tribulations of her life, she continues to smile, continues to grow as a person, continues to be successful in her career, and continues to survive. Through it all and through her daughter, she eventually discovers the true meaning of unconditional love.

Come discover life through the eyes of Tara as she grows from a black child to a black woman.

What Does Your Libdo Reveal About You?

diana_hoppe

SHOW RECAP: What fun to talk about sex and our “urge to merge.”

Did you know that approximately 43% of American women have some form of “sexual dysfunction,” the majority suffering from decreased sexual desire? According to Dr. Diana Hoppe, this is true!

On her site, Dr. Hoppe shares….

www.Listentoyourlibido.com  a wonderful resource for women to cover all aspects of female sexuality.

As women, we dedicate 100% of our hearts and minds to our family, our work, and our community. We are organized, smart, nurturing, and generous. We are intensely well-informed about how to manage our finances, cook chicken in 365 different ways, write a brilliant resume, and be the best parent who ever lived. What we tend to overlook, however, is becoming as well-informed as possible about our private concerns: our mental, physical, and sexual health.

According to a National Health and Social Survey, approximately 43 percent of American women—including those in their early child-bearing years—have some form of “sexual dysfunction,” the majority suffering from decreased sexual desire. Yes, almost half of American women—in the prime of their sexual lives—would rather choose sleep, a good book, or a soothing bath over having sex with their partner. What about you? Take a close look at how you are living your life. Are you putting your physical, emotional and spiritual needs last?

By keenly assessing the choices you make, you can find the strength and power to live a more satisfying, fulfilling life. As a woman, it’s important to become aware of the highly significant and important connection between your libido and your quality of life. A pleasurable sex life spills over into the rest of your life. In fact, sex is actually good for your health—it can lead to a longer life span, less stress and depression, a healthier immune system, as well as more loving relationships, a greater sense of self-esteem, more enjoyment and satisfaction from life, and a feeling of recaptured sexual vigor—all things that women strive for.

The latest scientific research and practical tips presented in this book can help you take control of your health and relationships. This book will cover new information, such as the most recent brain research targeting specific areas of brain function (especially those impacting sex/orgasm), and new drugs aimed at tackling the core issues affecting women’s libido.

Are you ready to really listen to your libido? A critical objective of Healthy Sex Drive, Healthy You is to give you permission to be sexy and sexual! You deserve to experience the fullness and joy of great sexual intimacy! But in order to do so, you must be informed. Understand your body and your brain and the processes that govern sexuality, as well as those that create a reluctance to enjoy intimacy. When you (and your partner) have the facts and the language to express this important element of your life, you can communicate more effectively. This candid communication can not only save your relationship, but also prove to get the sexual juices flowing. The choice to be happy and healthy sexually is within your control.

Is there such a thing as Female Erectile Dysfunction? Find out on DivaTalkRadio – A Show for Confident Women when Gina Parris and Kelli Claypool talk with Dr. Diana Hoppe, a Board Certified OB/GYN about women’s health and intimacy issues.
