diva-chic-with-micThe Divas are looking for guests to interview on future shows. While our target market are women business owners, we do have a male following (they just love us!) Our primary goal is to educate, empower, and motivate women of all ages.

Our show airs LIVE ever Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. EST. It is a 30 minute, commercial-free show. We do have open phone lines for listeners to call in and interact with our guest speaker as well as a live chat room during the show. Plus, downloads of the replays are available after the show. This is a great feature for our guest to use on their own website.

We do not hard sell on our show, however I do encourage all guests to share information about their businesses, upcoming events, and product launches. Additionally, links to the businesses will be placed on our website for further exposure.

If this sounds exciting to you, please complete the form on the “contact” page and we’ll be in touch with you right away.

I look forward to hearing from you.

That’s it for now. Until next time…wear your heels well & I’ll see YOU at the show!

I have so much planned for The Diva Network, which includes both DivaTalkRadio and BriefcaseDiva, and will update you shortly.

I will continue to interview women business leaders as well as bring you the latest trends and tips to excel in your business.  But in order to do so, I need to hear from YOU! What do you want to hear on DivaTalkRadio?  Who do you want interviewed?  This show is for YOU, so you tell me what YOU want and I’ll make it happen!

If you’re not already signed up for our monthly newsletter, please sign up now so you will be informed on upcoming shows.

Intern Queen Lauren Berger is Nominated for BusinessWeek Best Entrepreneur

laurenbergerquarterlifepicOur friend, Lauren Berger(a/k/a Intern Queen) has been nominated and is now a finalist for Business Week’s annual, 25 of America’s Best Young Entrepreneurs 25 and Under. There are 25 finalists selected and from that amount they pick only a handful of winners. It’s a voting competition so whoever gets the most votes wins.

“This competition is a dream come true for me and I would really appreciate your support and any ideas you might have to help get the word out”, asks Lauren.

Lauren is such a delightful and talented young lady who would benefit immensely from this competition.  She spends her time helping college students land internships as a means to increase their skills.  This is an incredible program and one that I use on a routine basis.

Check out Lauren’s entry here and vote for her here! (yes, there are two different links. One is information about Lauren, and the second one is for you to vote for Lauren!)

We are very proud of Lauren and have our fingers crossed that she wins!

That’s it for now! Until next time, wear your heels well!

I’ve been interviewed by Profitable Mommy Blogging

July 30, 2009 by Kelli Claypool

Over the last several months, I have been honored to be interviewed quite a few times.  As a way to get to know me a little better, I thought that I would share some of these interviews with you.  I’d love your comments!

Here’s the interview…

This week for ‘Buzz a Mom’ I had the pleasure of interviewing Kelli Claypool.  In addition to being a busy wife and mom, Kelli is the co-owner of Briefcase Diva and Diva Talk Radio; just two of the places she works to empower, motivate and encourage women.

Here’s what Kelli shared with me:

I LOVE the name Briefcase Diva!  Is there a story behind the name?

Thank you! I love the name too.

My passion, for many years, has been to promote women in business. We are moms and wives and daughters and business owners and taxi drivers and classroom helpers and bathroom doctors (for the boo-boos) and lovers to our significant others and, and, and… the list goes on.  As women we are pulled in so many different directions that sometimes we need to be encouraged and motivated by other women who have been there, done that and are still doing it.

I want women to look in the mirror and see someone who is priceless. Someone who is valuable.  Someone who makes a difference in so many ways. Often times we put ourselves on hold so that we can tend to our family’s needs…and that’s okay, there’s nothing wrong with that.  But, we allow ourselves to get into a rut and before long we lose sight of who we really are.

So, BriefcaseDiva came to fruition as a means to encourage and motivate women to follow their dreams. And to arm women with tools, support, and education that will empower them to be the best that they can be.  I am inspired, on a daily basis, by the wonderful women that come through the “virtual” doors of BriefcaseDiva.  These women rock!

You define “Diva” in your blog header as “a woman who is strong in her faith, blessed by her family, and who encourages others to rise up to their greatest potential!”

Don’t you just love that definition? It just puts a whole new spin on the implications of a Diva.

Yes, I do love love it!! Can you tell us about a Diva in your life who encouraged you?

I would have to say, my grandmother (Big Mama) was an encouragement in my life. She was a strong woman who did not allow struggles to get her down.  When my grandfather passed away, she was in her 50’s and didn’t know how to drive.  Instead of allowing that to be a disability to her, she was determined that she would learn, she did, and obtained her driver’s license.  Little things like learning to write a check or balancing a checkbook was all new to her, but she put on her big-girl panties and done it.

As a Diva yourself, please share with us some ways your family blesses (supports) your online activities?

Wow, this is a loaded question because I could write a book on this topic alone.  I believe I’m the luckiest girl in the world because I have a husband that supports me and my ideas (even the silly ones).  His unconditional love & support allows me to put in long hours when I need to and he knows that I’m not “playing” at the computer.  He allows me to bounce ideas off of him and never tells me that I’m crazy…even though I think I am sometimes. He’s simply the best!

My favorite part of your definition is that a Diva encourages others.  How do you use your blog and talk show to encourage women to rise up to their greatest potential?

By being transparent. With me, what you see is what you get. I don’t claim to know it all and there are times that I may do something or say something that are not agreeable with others.  But, I’m real. With my blog and talk show, I want a fun atmosphere for women to be themselves, vent when they need to, brag when they’re excited, and give them a shoulder to lean on. I like to have guests (speakers, bloggers) who will bring something of value, whether it be in education, raising awareness, or encouragement. That’s what makes us rise to the top.

You share Briefcase Diva and Diva Talk Radio with a partner, Regina Smola.  What tips do you have for making a partnership (joint venture) with another Diva successful?

I can sum it up in two words…Like-Minds. A partner should share your vision and have an agreement that it’s okay to disagree at times. Having an open communication is also key. Always discuss things, good or bad, and work through things to build and strengthen your relationship.

Wow!  You are definitely right about having a shared vision with those we work with!  Thank you, Kelli, for taking the time to talk with me about how you are living as a Diva business woman.  I, for one, feel inspired to look for ways to encourage other women through blogging.

If you would like to know more about Briefcase Diva, Diva Talk Radio or connect with Kelli, you can follow her on Twitter at @krclaypool, @BriefcaseDiva and @DivaTalkRadio.

Divas, Meet My New Writing Intern

May 15, 2009 by Kelli Claypool

Hi there, Divas! My name is Stephen Johnson, and I’m Kelli Claypool’s new intern. She’s asked me to write a brief bio, so here goes:

stephen johnsonI’m a 20-year-old college student from Greenville, South Carolina. I’m from a family of five, and I was raised in a fairly close and semi-traditional family that’s probably pretty typical of the South. I’m a rising Senior at Clemson University, and I love college! I don’t have any kids and and I don’t run my own businesses or websites. I’m not married either, although I’ve been dating a wonderful girl for a little over six months. You’re probably wondering why I’m working for Kelli at this point, so I’ll let you know.

The working world is probably not going to compare well with college, unless I’m working for someone like Kelli (fingers crossed). Right now I’m doing writing, editing, and general web stuff for DivaTalkRadio and BriefcaseDiva, and that’s probably all I’m going to cover unless Kelli thinks I can handle more. However, experience, knowledge, and contacts aren’t the main reason why I chose to work with Kelli. I wanted to work with her so I could learn how to empower and encourage the women in my life. As of right now, my mom, my sisters, my girlfriend, and many other women in my life are some of the most intelligent and talented people I know. But they don’t know it, and they don’t have access to their full abilities because they find it difficult to believe in themselves. I’ve been noticing this my whole life, and because I am in some ways a fairly stereotypical guy, I want to solve the problem and make everything ok. I know that just listening helps a lot sometimes, but I also know that it’s not enough. I want to actively encourage and support them. So, I’ve become part of the DivaTalkRadio/BriefcaseDiva team so that I can learn from women who’ve overcome the obstacles, found faith in themselves, and achieved their dreams.

So, that’s basically me and what I’m about. I look forward to learning from you and spreading the word about women who’ve been a success in business and life.

If you want to contact me, I’m @SJJohnson88 on Twitter. You can also Facebook me or shoot me an email at stephen@divatalkradio.com. I’m still working on my blog, so it’s not up yet, but it will be soon.

Until then, wear your heels well, and know that I can’t stand up in those things. (I don’t balance very well)

stephen-sig

P.S. I almost forgot to thank Lauren Berger and the team and quarterlife.com. They’re the ones responsible for getting me in touch with Kelli and they are some great people.

Meet Kim Smith DTR’s Production Assistant Intern

KimHello Divas! I am so pleased to become a part of the wonderful Diva Talk Radio team and I’m looking forward to getting to know this community in the next few months.  Kelli has been a joy to work with so far and I’m excited to be on this journey with her and with her readers and listeners!  Kelli asked me to introduce myself to you, so here is a little bit about me.

My husband, Scott, and I live in West Michigan with our two sons–Christopher, 16 and Ian, 15, and one dog, Ebony.  We have been married for almost 22 years.  Scott works for RBC Ministries (Our Daily Bread), where I worked for nearly 12 years, until my position was eliminated about a year ago.

I have two businesses.  Dramatic Design is my Web Design and Marketing business.  It has been in existance for over 9 years now and has become a great asset to our family.  The goal for Dramatic Design has always been to keep web design affordable for small business owners.  Having a small business myself, I know how limited funds can be–yet how important a website presence is, especially for the small business owner.  I design each site to match the personality of the business and/or the business owner–each site is as unique as the business itself.  I also create WordPress themes for those who like the blog format for their web presence.

Recapture The Memories is my photo digitizing service.  Everyone has that box of old photos sitting in their closet or basement and many wish they could do something with them–scrapbook them or share them in some way, but they don’t want to touch the originals. Recapture The Memories is the solution to this problem!  I make high-resolution scans of your photos and return your unharmed photos to you, along with your scans on a CD.  Once they are digital, you can have prints made or share the photos with friends and family.  Having an archival copy of your photos on CD allows you to store your precious memories in a firebox or safety deposit box, too.  Printed photos break down over time by just sitting, but digitizing them will preserve the color and clarity of their current state.  I also digitize slides and negatives.

I also just finished directing the play The Curious Savage at Kuyper College in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  (Did I mention I sometimes go by the nickname “Drama Queen”–not the bad definition, of course!)  I do a little acting and/or directing whenever given the chance.

And if all that isn’t enough, I’m also the leader of our local Celiac Support Group.  In case you’re not familiar with Celiac, it is an intolerance to gluten, which is the protein found in wheat, rye, barley, and oats.  There is no cure for the disease, just a strict diet, avoiding the above ingredients.  It’s a pain, but it could be much worse.

Whew!  I’m tired just thinking about all that stuff!  Haha!  Eh…it’s not that bad.  I love learning new things and encouraging others.  I’m super excited to learn the back-end of podcasting from Kelli, as well as other parts of the operation of Diva Talk Radio.  I love listening to podcasts, so this will be a great experience for me.  I’m looking forward to interacting with the whole community at Diva Talk Radio.

If you want to connect with me, I’m @kimsmith on Twitter or you can email me at kim@divatalkradio.com.  My personal blog is Daily Drama and it’s an eclectic mix of everything under the sun.

Blessings~
