What Does Your Libdo Reveal About You?

diana_hoppe

SHOW RECAP: What fun to talk about sex and our “urge to merge.”

Did you know that approximately 43% of American women have some form of “sexual dysfunction,” the majority suffering from decreased sexual desire? According to Dr. Diana Hoppe, this is true!

On her site, Dr. Hoppe shares….

www.Listentoyourlibido.com  a wonderful resource for women to cover all aspects of female sexuality.

As women, we dedicate 100% of our hearts and minds to our family, our work, and our community. We are organized, smart, nurturing, and generous. We are intensely well-informed about how to manage our finances, cook chicken in 365 different ways, write a brilliant resume, and be the best parent who ever lived. What we tend to overlook, however, is becoming as well-informed as possible about our private concerns: our mental, physical, and sexual health.

According to a National Health and Social Survey, approximately 43 percent of American women—including those in their early child-bearing years—have some form of “sexual dysfunction,” the majority suffering from decreased sexual desire. Yes, almost half of American women—in the prime of their sexual lives—would rather choose sleep, a good book, or a soothing bath over having sex with their partner. What about you? Take a close look at how you are living your life. Are you putting your physical, emotional and spiritual needs last?

By keenly assessing the choices you make, you can find the strength and power to live a more satisfying, fulfilling life. As a woman, it’s important to become aware of the highly significant and important connection between your libido and your quality of life. A pleasurable sex life spills over into the rest of your life. In fact, sex is actually good for your health—it can lead to a longer life span, less stress and depression, a healthier immune system, as well as more loving relationships, a greater sense of self-esteem, more enjoyment and satisfaction from life, and a feeling of recaptured sexual vigor—all things that women strive for.

The latest scientific research and practical tips presented in this book can help you take control of your health and relationships. This book will cover new information, such as the most recent brain research targeting specific areas of brain function (especially those impacting sex/orgasm), and new drugs aimed at tackling the core issues affecting women’s libido.

Are you ready to really listen to your libido? A critical objective of Healthy Sex Drive, Healthy You is to give you permission to be sexy and sexual! You deserve to experience the fullness and joy of great sexual intimacy! But in order to do so, you must be informed. Understand your body and your brain and the processes that govern sexuality, as well as those that create a reluctance to enjoy intimacy. When you (and your partner) have the facts and the language to express this important element of your life, you can communicate more effectively. This candid communication can not only save your relationship, but also prove to get the sexual juices flowing. The choice to be happy and healthy sexually is within your control.

Is there such a thing as Female Erectile Dysfunction? Find out on DivaTalkRadio – A Show for Confident Women when Gina Parris and Kelli Claypool talk with Dr. Diana Hoppe, a Board Certified OB/GYN about women’s health and intimacy issues.

How Women Weave Tribulation into Triumph

Michelle

SHOW RECAP:

Women have the incredible ability to take difficult situations and turn them into personal triumphs regardless of their circumstances. In her book, Common Threads – How Women Weave Tribulation into Triumph, Michelle Candland hopes that the stories she shares brings something positive, something empowering, and something inspiring that will help spark a passion to find their place in the world and make a difference no matter what the past has held.

Things we covered:

It’s important to get YOUR story out there.

You are a leader right now! There is SOMEone who wants to emulate you, even if you don’t believe it. Lead with clear intention every single day.  Live your legacy. You are not here to just give a legacy. No need to wait. Let’s choose to maximize every moment!

Surround yourself with supportive people who understand unconditional friendship.

You can catch the show recap right here.

Listen to internet radio with Kelli X DivaTalk on Blog Talk Radio

Common Threads is filled with real life experiences, uplifting quotes, helpful tools for self improvement and numerous resources for personal growth. What you do with what you’ve learned has no limits—know that you are not alone, you are surrounded by people who truly want you to succeed and you are worth it!

Common Threads is a compilation of almost 60 years of Michelle’s personal experiences, ranging from early childhood memories, to adult “ah ha!” moments. It is a collection of little somethings that would later prove to be the cause of big somethings, joyful muses, sad observations, sources of pride, causes of embarrassment, and even periods of disgrace. All are threads of experience that are woven together to make up her life tapestry. There were times when she thought she had more unraveling than weaving going on; times when the texture was loose, the colors were dark, and the pattern was ill conceived. Other times, the edges of the images were precise, the colors were rich, and the big picture was filled with both accomplishment and hope for a brighter tomorrow.

About Michelle:

Michelle Candland was born in Los Angeles, California and was the older sister to three brothers. By the time she was three she had already learned the painful consequence of upsetting her alcoholic father, had witnessed her mother learning to please as a survival mechanism and was well on her way to accepting abuse as a normal way of life.

Her parents divorced when she was six and at the age of eight, Michelle’s responsibilities included cleaning the house, getting dinner started and tending her younger brothers when her mother was at work. She smiles when she says, “I feel like I’ve been a Mom all my life!” The negative lessons she learned as a child would guide her down numerous paths cluttered with missteps, poor decisions and misguided loyalties but the positive ones would give her the strength to never give up, the belief in a power greater than herself and the desire to make a difference in the world.

Michelle transformed her relationship inadequacies into an enviable marriage to her best friend, and her numerous short-term job experiences blossomed into a rewarding successful 20-year-career in commercial real estate. Her community involvement with Rotary International has provided her with a robust pool of opportunities to give back to the community and reap the blessings of service above self.

On a personal note, the light of Michelle’s life is her family. She marvels at the fact that although she and her husband Art have blended six children from very different backgrounds, they all get along beautifully and on the rare occasion they are all together at once, the room is filled with laughter. The children are all married and the grandchildren number in the double digits.

Anyone who knows Michelle knows she finds great peace and contentment in her garden. She tends to her flowers and cares for her koi like they were additional family members.

How to Host the Perfect Wine Tasting Fundraiser with Eric V. Orange

Eric V Orange on DivaTalkRadio

LIVE SHOW RECAP:

We were talking all things Wine on DivaTalkRadio with special guest Eric V. Orange.

To connect with Eric, visit www.LocalWineEvents.com, which is “The World’s Leading Wine Events Calendar.” Lists Wine, Food, Beer & Spirits events by city, worldwide.

During the show, we had many questions from our Loyal Listeners Club. Here are a few:

Divas: What is the legs, nose, mouth of wine?
Eric: Legs – when you swirl the wine in the glass and that settles back, the alcohol creates streams. The thicker the legs, the more alcohol in the wine but it’s just one clue for an overall perception.

Nose – simply the smell! After you swirl it, stick your nose down in the glass and enjoy!

Mouth – how it feels in your mouth – heavy, light acidic, crisp… The bottom line is do you like it?

Divas: What should a newbie look for in a wine?
Eric: This depends on what you like. You may start with something light and soft like a White Zinfandel. Certainly have it with a meal or with cheese, crackers grapes. As people progress, they start to gravitate towards bigger bolder flavors in the red side.

Some of our Diva’s enjoy a White Zinfandel, but we are encouraged to move to bolder richer varieties, like a dessert wine with some chocolate.

Divas: What food with which wine?
Eric: Today you can just Google that! Historically we say white wine with lighter foods like fish and darker wines with meat.

Divas: What is an example of a dessert wine?
Eric: A dark red. Ice Wine from Canada is popular this way. It is made from grapes after they have frozen.

Divas: How long can a bottle of wine last after it’s been open?
Eric: Just a few days.

Divas: What is the protocol of taking your own wine to a restaurant?
Eric: Call ahead and ask if it is permissible. Most restaurants don’t love this idea. They may offer to have you bring it in on a “corkage fee,” (anywhere from zero to $25 or $30) to ice it for you, serve it to you. They really don’t want you bringing in something that is already on their list OR something that is really cheap. Perhaps if it is a special occasion and this is a special bottle.

Wine tasting tips:

Don’t wear a lot of perfume! The people around you want to smell the wines.

Don’t go to a wine tasting hungry – It is not a smorgasbord!

Eric V Orange on DivaTalkRadioOn the next episode of DivaTalkRadio, we will be talking “wine” with Eric V. Orange, founder of www.LocalWineEvents.com. Eric will be discussing how to host a wine fundraisers and wine tasting dos & don’ts.

Eric has had a diverse and distinguished 20+ year career within the wine industry. After an enlistment in the Submarine Service of the United States Navy, Eric joined an ex-shipmate who was attending the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in Hyde Park, New York. He took a job at Millbrook Vineyards outside of Poughkeepsie and spent almost five years learning to grow grapes and make wine as the Vineyard Supervisor. Eric moved back to his hometown to attend college and took a part time job at a 105 yr old private club which quickly became a full time position as the Bar Manager/Wine Steward.

That job led to a position as a Wine Representative for a local Wholesaler, which in turn led to a position as District Manager for Paterno Imports in Colorado. During five and a half years with Paterno, Eric attained certification from theCourt of Master Sommeliers (1st phase) and a Master of Wine Education certification from the International Wine Guild.

He is a member of the Society of Wine Educators. He also served on the board of the American Institute of Wine and Food (AIWF), Denver Chapter. Finally, he decided to develop his idea for LocalWineEvents.com.  Eric and his family currently live just outside of Philadelphia.

From alpha dogs to Goldendoodles with Jennifer Tilman

dog-grooming-stories-on-divatalkradio

LIVE SHOW RECAP:

We had a great time with our guest Jennifer Tilman, author of Grooming Tales from A to Z.

Insights we gained from our questions and answers to Jennifer were…

Divas: Best dog to get for a family with young children?
Jennifer: I recommend a Black Lab Retriever because despite their size they are the most docile and easy going. Plus they will just walk away instead of getting impatient when they’ve had enough of the children.

Divas: What insight do you have for Diva Gina considering adopting a greyhound?
Jennifer: Greyhounds are very sweet dogs and great to adopt after their racing careers because they need someplace to go and they are very gentle but when it comes to disciplining them, you must be very careful to not break their spirit. They are so gentle.

Divas: What do you think are the smartest dogs?
Jennifer: Border Collies, Poodles and even Dalmatians, which can also be manipulative! Jennifer once found herself flip-flopped in a game of chase with her Dalmatian, and wondering, how did I become the one chasing?

Dogs have amazing language skills. They understand our language (without speaking baby talk to it.)

Maturity-wise, our dogs grow to the maturity level of about a 3 year old toddler. They are more intelligent than they get credit for.

At the end of this show, it remained a mystery why some owners actually look like their dogs!

Arms Open Wide: A Midwives Journey

PatriciaHarman

Patricia Harman has spent over thirty years caring for women as a midwife, first as a lay-midwife, delivering babies in cabins and on communal farms in West Virginia, and later as a nurse-midwife in teaching hospitals and in a community hospital birthing center.

She spent over a decade in the sixties and seventies in her wild youth living in rural communes in Washington, Connecticut and Minnesota. During the Vietnam years, she and her husband, Tom Harman, traveled the country, often hitch-hiking, as they looked for a place to settle. In 1974 they purchased a farm with a group of like-minded friends on top of a ridge in Roane County, West Virginia. Here on the commune, they built log houses, dug a pond, grew and preserved their own food and started the Growing Tree Natural Foods Cooperative.

It was during this time that Patsy attended her first home birth, more or less by accident. “Some people are destined,” she has written. “I was staying at a woman friend’s commune when she went into labor and I ended up delivering my first baby.” Soon after, Harman traveled to Austin, Texas to train with a collective of home-birth midwives. When she returned, she became one of the founding members of The West Virginia Cooperative of Midwives. Her passion for caring for women and babies led her to become an RN as the first step in getting licensed as certified nurse midwife. In 1985, with her children, a yowling cat and her husband she traveled north, pulling a broken down trailer to begin her training at the University of Minnesota where she received her MSN in Nurse-Midwifery.

For the past twenty years, Ms. Harman has been a nurse-midwife on the faculty of The Ohio State University, Case Western Reserve University and most recently West Virginia University. In 1998 she went into private practice with her husband, Tom, an OB/Gyn, in Morgantown, West Virginia.

Here they devoted their lives to caring for women and bringing babies into the world in a gentle
way.

Drawing heavily from Harman’s personal journals, her new book Arms Wide Open: A Midwife’s Journey goes back to a time of counterculture idealism when Harman taught herself to deliver babies. In her first, highly praised memoir, The Blue Cotton Gown, Patricia Harman recounted the stories that patients brought into her exam room, and her own story of struggling to help women as a nurse-midwife. In Arms Wide Open, a prequel to that acclaimed book, Patsy tells the story of growing up during one of the most turbulent times in America and becoming an idealistic home-birth midwife.

Please join Kelli and Gina on the next DivaTalkRadio as they talk with Patricia Harman.

Housewife Bliss with Coryanne Etienne

coryanne ettiene on divatalkradio

Coryanne shared with us her transition from corporate world to life as a stay at home mom and then a work from home mom.

She was trying so hard to be “more than a stay-at-home mom,” that she nearly killed herself working on her Master’s in Philosophy  from Kings College in London.  She finally learned some keys to living peacefully at home on a dramatic pay decrease.

Some keys:

1. Invite people into your home, instead of meeting at cafe’s.

2. Relationships with other mothers blossomed in this season, and she learned to let go of any shame over any lacking cooking skills.

3. She learned to be proud to say, “I am a housewife!” With a smile and with her shoulders back. That’s when she realized that many people would have loved to live that stay at home role.

4. Reveling in the enjoyment of the moment is priceless!

Kelli admitted that she is not a kitchen lover. In fact, as a very young bride, she once wrote to the Betty Crocker Cooking Club to cancel her membership because they kept sending her recipes involving a Dutch Oven and by golly, she had an American Oven! Twenty years later, she discovered what a dutch oven is.

This creates cooking anxiety.

Regarding cooking anxiety: Learn that nothing has to be perfect! Enjoy the process and being in the company of friends and loved ones!

About Coryanne Etienne: As a wife, and the mother of 3 young children, inspiration for her business is taken from daily life, and infused from her experiences living in Europe, Asia and Africa.  Prior to starting Housewife Bliss in 2010, Coryanne Ettiene earned a Master of Philosophy from Kings College London and spent over 10 years working as a management consultant. When she left her job in management consulting to focus on motherhood, it took her time to embrace the value of her new role and find the right balance between the woman she was before and the woman she was becoming.  During this transition, Coryanne devoured books on domestication, cooking and gardening, and soon discovered that her new place in society held an equally important role as her last.

In 2010, this journey into domestication became the motivation behind Housewife Bliss, and today she promotes the message that the modern traditionalist housewife is a woman who manages her home with pride, has a passion for traditional domestic arts, and above all is not defined by her home, but rather defines her home.

Being a Womanpreneur with Dr. Carolyn Edwards

Dr. Carolyn Edwards inspired us as we talked about entrepreneurship and the ability to inspire the dreams in the children and adults around us.

Here are some highlights from the talk:
What led you from being a college professor to being a powerful entrepreneur?

Dr. E: After finding people misusing financial aide and being unable to come to school, and others went to class but never developed a winning attitude. Many students just never learned the life skills they needed at home. So I started writing children’s books.

My books tell the story about little Jeremiah to inspire them to succeed in life. They don’t have to be a professional athlete or a race car driver to be successful. Everyone can be what they love.

I don’t want to live in a vanilla society. If we allow children to bring a gift and talent in the world we will have so much more diversity and love and passion. Truly the world will be a better place.

Let’s help some people not wait until they are retired to pursue the passion in their life.

We want to allow people to be comfortable in their own skin. Life is so short so lets at least enjoy the journey.
