When taking on Elaine as an Intern, I asked her what she wanted to gain from her Internship. She said that she wanted to learn about women in business as she has an entrepreneural spirit. So, I set her out to find 10 websites that she resonated with. The only guidelines that I gave her that the site must be owned by a woman and that it talked about business. The type of business was not a concern.

Elaine was to visit the website and then come back and report her findings. What Elaine returned was a list of incredible sites. Some I knew of already and some I didn’t know about.

Over the next several days, we will be sharing Elaine’s reviews in our Women in Business Series. Hope you’ll join us!

That’s it for now. Until next time, wear your heels well!

Whether you’re working from home as a self-employed entrepreneur or are bringing home some work from your full time job, it’s important that you set up a home office and create a productive set of home work habits. While some of these habits and tactics may seem obvious, many others are frequently disregarded. So ask yourself this simple question: Are you making the most out of your work in the following four areas?

Organizing Your Time

Overwhelming yourself with work, whether it’s a freelance setup or the office work that you want to take care of at home, won’t do you any good. Instead, try creating a small list of tasks, either by using viable GTD (getting things done) software or choosing more simple approaches like emailing yourself a to do list. Whichever method you choose, don’t send yourself the next year’s worth of work. Just focus on the day’s work. In addition, set aside specific hours where you will be working. This will allow you to devote your time appropriately and schedule other needed tasks around the required project work.

Productive Work Space

If you work at home frequently, you should set up a workspace that is only used for working from home. That means that any other computer use, such as browsing Facebook or playing games, shouldn’t be done here. You can create this workspace by setting up a desk, a unique profile on your computer, and work oriented decorations. Some of the best decorations include family pictures, motivational quotes or posters, plants, and other relaxing items. Similarly, your computer’s desktop background should be something that evades distraction.

Synchronize with Everything

If you use any other devices for your work, you will want to access all the information you can from home. Some employers use web-based applications that you can access from anywhere such as Google Apps. If you don’t fall into this category, any pop3 server can be made into a web-based platform through exchange hosting. Exchange hosting is one of the best ways to make sure you have access to your Outlook account, calendar, contacts, and other relevant information. Hosted exchange services will also allow you to sync up with mobile devices and other work utilities.

Remain Professional

The fantasy of working at home often involves sitting at your desk in your pajamas, working whenever you feel like working, having ice cream at your desk with you, and having your favorite sports game on in the background. While this may work for you every other blue moon, they are generally terrible ideas. There’s a reason you can’t do these things in the office.

Dressing and behaving professionally will increase your confidence, put you in the working mindset, and in the end, magnify your productivity. Working from home doesn’t mean working poorly or working in a less than professional manner. In fact, if anything, maintaining a professional environment is far more important at home. After all, distractions are far more likely to be present there, and while someone breathing down your neck at work may not always be appreciated, you may miss it when you run into trouble with motivating yourself at home.

The phrase ‘Every Little Helps’ is key when you’re a bargain hunter and a keen user of coupons. The codes tend to give you a discount which is a small fraction of the overall price, but if you remain frugal and use them in the right way then your savings over an entire year will be mammoth.

We’ve put together four steps, which should ensure you get those savings from coupon codes and reap the benefits…

Step One: Find your favorite coupon code directories…

The Internet is littered with coupon code websites, some fantastic, and others not so much. Luckily you’ll find more than your fair share of the good ones, but keeping track of every single one will take up too much time. The answer? You need to identify a few favorites (perhaps two to four) so that you’re not overloaded.

Consider factors like user navigation and simplicity of the interface when you choose, how regularly it is updated, whether it lists coupons for items that you are interested in, and whether you can sign up to its RSS feed, or get email updates on the latest deals.

Our personal favorite is FreeShipping.org for the simplicity of the site, and its broad range of coupon niches.

Step Two: Find a site with buyer opinions…

Finding tons of coupon codes is wonderful, but they’re not always all useful. The best coupon sites are the ones that allow members to comment on (or even just rate) the codes, so that you can tell instantly which ones are worth the bother.

You can ensure this way that you’re only using coupons from trusted sources, and you’ll get to know where the best ones come from too. Take Coupon Sherpa for example: this site features deals and coupons selected and voted by members (take a look at a sample page for example: Sears coupon code). This is definitely my favorite site when it comes to bargain hunting and coupon collecting.

Step Three: Set up a system to keep you updated…

There are tons of tools on the web to keep you updated on the latest coupon deals, and they go beyond the realms of email newsletters and automation too. Try the RSS feeds offered by your favorite bargain hunting websites (Wizz RSS is a great one that comes in the form of a FireFox plugin). Also, you can use Twitter, and twitter tools like Seesmic, so you get short 140 character updates as soon as they’re tweeted.

If you look, most coupon code blogs and sites will have a twitter account. You can even have them sent right to your cell phone. Lastly, there are also some sites that offer their own specialized subscription options (Freeshipping.org, for example where you can choose your “Favorite Coupons” and they will show you the possible buying options).

Step Four: Do the math…!

It’s all too easy to see a coupon and automatically think you’re getting a good deal with it, but the truth isn’t always so! Make sure you use your calculator and compare prices on products before you use a coupon with them. Make sure the site you found it on hasn’t just put up the price, and then offered ‘money off’. Do the math and check other people’s opinions and you’ll be golden!

You know YOU have questions for Jenny…here are a few of mine. If you want to know more, leave a comment below and Jenny will answer them for you.

Q: What exactly is this program that you’re entering?

There’s this really cool fitness hangout for moms online called BookieBoo.com and they run a contest to find the next “Mamavation Mom” every seven weeks. The Mamavation Mom is the mom everyone watches as they make a 7-week intense change to their diet and exercise routine. They’re the mom to watch and be inspired by as they go through the Mamavation program. Then, after the 7 weeks they continue to remain active in the BookieBoo community giving advice, support, and love to the rest of the Mamavation Sistahood.

Q: What is your ultimate goal for entering this program?

My goal is to become a healthier, faster, more dangerous version of ME!

Q: Why are you doing this?

I have some food phobias as well as a mild eating disorder that has been with me for a long time. If you watch Dexter you’ll understand when I call it my very own “dark passenger” – I’d starve myself for days and then eat a whole box of macaroni and cheese. I mean, it’s not an eating disorder worthy of a Lifetime Movie, but every calorie of that mac and cheese turned to fat because my body thought it was starving. I’m done being a starving fat girl. I want to eat healthy and be more active.

Q: I love what you’re doing and I’m sure your family is so proud of you. Are you involving them in the lifestyle change?

Absolutely. I’m doing this for my children. My husband is tall and thin (135lbs. soaking wet) and he’s going to quit drinking soda so he can be healthier too. I’m very blessed and my husband takes care of all the meals in the house so he’s learning right alongside me what to eat and what to skip in the grocery store. When my first daughter was born she was small and thin, just like him, and I thanked God for sparing me the potential of having a fat child and the life that goes along with being a fat child. Then I had #2 and #3 and let’s just say they are more “solid” than “etherial” LOL I realized I needed to get my ass in gear so that they’d be used to eating right and exercising and I won’t send my kids to school to be tortured but to LEARN!!!

Q: What can we do to help you win this contest?

Visit http://bit.ly/ai2XMc and vote for me! The voting box is right under the Earth Footwear ad and I’m the first one in the list @Jennydecki – then email everyone you know and tweet it and put it up on Facebook. Post the video with the link if you can, because it kind of sells itself with the funny and the serious all rolled up in one. I’m competing against someone hosting a giveaway and two people that run a not-for-profit organization and have a list the size of my house. I need YOUR help to win.

Q: What’s in it for us?

Once I win I will be posting videos. Inspirational videos, funny videos, ME WORKING OUT videos, food demonstration and cooking videos. Everything you need to feel better about yourself and realize that anyone can truly become healthier with just one decision. To DO it. Let me be YOUR inspiration. Or just let me make you feel better about yourself. Either way, we’re cool.

Let’s show Jenny some DIVA love and vote for her!

Getting your degree is now easier than ever before. With electronic education, you can easily maneuver your school schedule around your work, family, friends, and other events. Beyond that, you can now select the degree program that’s best suited to your current or future career. Choosing the right online college for that program is extremely important, especially when it comes to a business degree. Here are some of the best online colleges for business education.

Colorado Technical University.

This technical college surpasses all the general standards, providing a number of different degree options, small class sizes, a top class faculty with real world experience, and a number of accelerated learning options. With programs for Associate’s, Bachelor’s, and Master’s degrees, the university’s business school is one of the most diverse at all levels. The Bachelor’s program includes some unusual areas of specialization such as Financial Forensics and Property Management. With two different specializations for the Master’s of Business Administration, this school is an excellent choice.

Jones International University.

In 1993, the Jones International University became the first fully accredited online education institution, and has since expanded into various areas of expertise. The business program is exceptional. The JIU School of Business offers Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degree programs for business.

There are three different forms of business related Bachelor’s degrees: a BA in business communications, a BB in administration, and an accelerated program that’s designed to put you on the fast track to your Master’s degree. There are six different areas of focus for your Master’s degree, including four MA degrees in various areas of specialization, the standard MBA, and a Master’s in corporate training. The DBA doctorate program is also available.

Walden University.

Walden provides a number of options for business students. With two business related Bachelor’s and a single MBA, it may seem to lack the diversity of some of the other schools, but its quality and accessibility are superb. Its in-depth business education program covers all the basics including finance, leadership, marketing, technology, resource management, healthcare implementation, entrepreneurship, and much more. This school’s ability to offer cross-disciplinary studies with experienced professors in other fields makes a business degree from Walden one of the most well rounded degrees that you can get online.

Northcentral University

Northcentral has a focused graduate degree program for anyone in the business world. Its advanced Master’s of Business Administration and Doctorate of Business Administration are some of the most accessible advanced degrees. They’re accessible thanks in part to a lack of residency requirements, monthly class start dates, one-on-one faculty attention as needed, and financing options. The doctorate program is of special note, with potential areas of specialization including advanced accounting, technology, e-commerce, HR management, healthcare administration, public administration, and marketing.

All of these institutions are more than glad to provide potential students with in-depth information about the degree programs, costs, financial aid options, application process, and enrollment requirements. The individual websites of these universities generally have this information available. Many also have electronic information packets that they can send immediately.

Eileen Parker of Cozy Calm will be our Featured Guest on March 17, 2010. Eileen has Asperger Syndrome (a type of High-Functioning Autism) and Sensory Processing Disorder and designed a weighted blanket for her own use.

Eileen says, “Other blankets did not work for me and I would not use them, so I designed my own. After seven prototypes, I was thrilled to have the perfect weighted blanket. Others loved them so we made more. Now, it has turned into a full-fledged business, and I am so excited about this. Cozy Calm and my weighted blankets feel right to me. I’m giving to others in a way that makes people with autism and/or sensory processing disorder feel good and sleep better. And, I am doing my small part for the autism community.

As a person with autism, I want to grow awareness of autism and create understanding for people with autism and their families, so I started The Cozy Calm Blog. I wanted my weighted blankets to be just right for people like me. I hope you enjoy your Cozy Calm weighted blanket.”

Visit Eileen’s website, Cozy Calm, and plan to join us on the live call. Phone lines and interactive chat room will be open during the LIVE call.

When: March 17, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. EST

Where: http://DivaTalkRadio.com/live

So, what is a Cozy Calm Weighted Blanket?

A Cozy Calm blanket is heavy blanket, and depending on the type of fabric, cool or warm. It is designed to give an overall hug for a comforting and relaxing feeling. It will likely make you feel less stressed, drowsy, and wanting to sleep.

It’s filled with round, heavy plastic beads made from the same type of plastic used to hold food, like milk jugs.

It is made with a secure inner liner to hold the beads in place so they don’t slosh around. A soft outer fabric is sewn together with the liner for the finished blanket.

The outer lining is made with soft fabrics such as fleece, cotton fleece, and high-thread-count cottons for a super-soft, luxurious feel. The sewers make the blankets so the weight stays evenly distributed, yet conforms to body for an overall hug.

It’s machine wash cold and dry low

Made in Minnesota

The plastic pellets are from an American company

The fabrics are high quality

It has a unique flexible design that has a patent pending.

People use Cozy Calm’s Weighted Blankets for:

Stress

Overall relaxation
