When my precious niece turned two, my sister threw her a Dora the Explorer party. It was so cute to see all the little kids excited about the party and the impending visit from Dora herself. There was only one problem, who would play Dora?
Well because my son, Spencer, adores his Aunt, he agreed to be Dora for the party. It was a hysterical site to say the least. Here’s this popular teenager, football player, all muscle kind of guy agreeing to play Dora. Nonetheless, he did it!
It all started with laying out the costume and figuring out how to get the darn thing on.
Next, putting all the pieces together. I think Spencer really enjoyed this!
Tah-dah! Dora getting in character to make her grand entrance. A little dance did the trick!
Now it’s time for Dora to make her (his) grand appearance at the party! This little guy LOVED Dora and wouldn’t leave her side.
Of course my beautiful sister got in on the fun of having a photo opp with Dora. Londyn doesn’t know what to think of the “big” Dora yet.
Not too sure of the life-sized Dora, Londyn was hesitant to give Dora a kiss but kept her eyes on Dora the whole time.
This is Cooper, my nephew. At one point, Dora asked Cooper if he wanted to dance…and that’s when it happened! Cooper’s eyes became wide open, shock covered his face, so he ran to find his mom and said “mom, is Dora a boy?” Not recalling what my sister said, but it apparently satisfied Cooper’s curiosity and he went back to enjoying the party.
And that, my friends, is how you throw a successful Dora the Explorer party. Oh, and the kids never found out if Dora was really a boy or not!
All in all, when it’s said and done, Spencer just melts when it comes to his cousins! Aren’t they cute?
I hope you enjoyed this fun little family post. Now let me hear from you. Have you ever dressed up like a character for a birthday party or special event? Leave your comments below.
Until next time, wear your heels well & be blessed!
P.S. I played Shrek and Sponge Bob once for a PTA Family Night. I’ll have to see if I can find the pictures to share with you 🙂
