How do you save money on baby care? The average yearly expense for a baby is around twelve thousand dollars, so saving money is very important. Here are four of the best ways to do so:
#1) Make your own wipes
This popular strategy can save you a huge amount of money. Instead of getting store bought wipes, making your own will save you a lot of money. They are healthier as well, because there is no harmful alcohol or chemicals.
To make your own wipes, you need paper towels. Either cut them into two pieces, or use the entire towel for a larger wipe.
The next ingredient required is oil. This makes the towel more slippery, which helps it glide across the skin better. Without this, it would be too sticky to do much good.
Next you need soap. This is important for eliminating any sign of the mess the baby left. And the essential oil is necessary for killing the bacteria.
Water is the other critical component. This washes the diaper, and also makes the other ingredients less potent.
#2) Make your own baby food
Store bought food is extremely pricey, and one of the biggest expenses you will incur with your child. So making your own can save you a bundle. And this is easier than you think.
It’s not necessary to be a great cook. You don’t even require exact measurements. All you really need to do is mix the food up well.
One of the more popular baby foods is apple sauce. This is very simple to make on your own. Just peel an apple, take the core out, and then cut it into smaller pieces. Then steam it in a small amount of water. Wait until it is a little soft, and then mash it up.
And it’s healthier than the store bought recipes, because you are using fresh apples. The store bought variety has preservatives added to help retain the flavor. When you make your own food, your baby will eat more healthily and you will save money.
#3) Use pet gates
They are much cheaper than baby gates, and just as effective.
#4) Get used clothes
Avoid buying new things when at all possible. If you have any friends who’ve had babies, you may be able to use clothes their babies have grown out of.
Also, try shopping online for used clothes. As long as you clean them out well before using them, they are perfectly fine. Just make sure to look on the Consumer Product Safety Commission website, and be certain you are not getting clothes that were involved in a recall.
The bottom line is, you do not have to break the bank when raising a baby. Just implement these four tips, and you will save a lot of money.
