Eileen Parker of Cozy Calm will be our Featured Guest on March 17, 2010. Eileen has Asperger Syndrome (a type of High-Functioning Autism) and Sensory Processing Disorder and designed a weighted blanket for her own use.
Eileen says, “Other blankets did not work for me and I would not use them, so I designed my own. After seven prototypes, I was thrilled to have the perfect weighted blanket. Others loved them so we made more. Now, it has turned into a full-fledged business, and I am so excited about this. Cozy Calm and my weighted blankets feel right to me. I’m giving to others in a way that makes people with autism and/or sensory processing disorder feel good and sleep better. And, I am doing my small part for the autism community.
As a person with autism, I want to grow awareness of autism and create understanding for people with autism and their families, so I started The Cozy Calm Blog. I wanted my weighted blankets to be just right for people like me. I hope you enjoy your Cozy Calm weighted blanket.”
Visit Eileen’s website, Cozy Calm, and plan to join us on the live call. Phone lines and interactive chat room will be open during the LIVE call.

So, what is a Cozy Calm Weighted Blanket?
A Cozy Calm blanket is heavy blanket, and depending on the type of fabric, cool or warm. It is designed to give an overall hug for a comforting and relaxing feeling. It will likely make you feel less stressed, drowsy, and wanting to sleep.
It’s filled with round, heavy plastic beads made from the same type of plastic used to hold food, like milk jugs.
It is made with a secure inner liner to hold the beads in place so they don’t slosh around. A soft outer fabric is sewn together with the liner for the finished blanket.
The outer lining is made with soft fabrics such as fleece, cotton fleece, and high-thread-count cottons for a super-soft, luxurious feel. The sewers make the blankets so the weight stays evenly distributed, yet conforms to body for an overall hug.
- It’s machine wash cold and dry low
- Made in Minnesota
- The plastic pellets are from an American company
- The fabrics are high quality
It has a unique flexible design that has a patent pending.
