Fashion Through the Years – 1950’s Style

Fashion in the 1950s was all about the art of feminine flirtation, and what’s more fun than that? While the influence of 1940s glamour is easy to see, it’s obvious that ladies in the 50s wanted to let loose and live a little! This era took subtle sexiness to the next level.

Daytime Casual

I bet these styles look a little familiar! While much of 1950s casual wear mimicked the fashions of the era before, take a look at those necklines. No high necked button ups here! Now, raise your hand if you have a peplum skirt, top, or dress in your closet. You can thank the 50s for this super flattering style. How many other cuts do you know of that are able to flatter every body type and are also office appropriate? How much cuter does fashion get? Swimwear in the 50s was all about accentuating that hourglass figure we women are so fortunate as to have been endowed with! Fifties Formality

Just as with casual wear, the 50’s love of bare shoulders and clavicles made its way into formal wear as well. How stunning is that dress on the left?
