Living on a farm has so many joys but it also brings heartbreak. For example, last week a hawk flew down and took out my four baby turkeys. I had only had them for three weeks and they were getting to place where they followed me around all over the farm. I was the only momma they knew, so they would yell and shout when they couldn’t find me, but when they did fine me they would get all happy and run to my feet.
It makes me think about our Heaven Father and how when we can’t find him we yell and shout to be in His presence. In Hebrews 13:5 God promises that he will never leave us nor forsake us
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
Just like I attend to my chickens and other farm animals, our Father attends to us. In Matthew 6:26, it says;
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
Ahh, isn’t that a relief? Just knowing that God cares so much for us and that we are valuable to Him makes it easy for us to lay our conflicts, our issues, our disappointments at His feet. He is truly an amazing God!

I’m so sorry for your sweet turkeys. I’m a city girl yet sometimes daydream about farm life.
Kelli Claypool says
Thank you for stopping by Marcie. I was a city girl up until 5 years ago when we moved from Tampa, Florida to the rural mountains of Kentucky. Not sure how I would like it, but fell in love nearly immediately. I do miss the shopping and the finer places to eat, but just walking outside and seeing all the beautiful nature and wildlife is just amazing. I do get my fill of city life when I visit my grown daughters who still live in the Tampa Bay area, but find myself longing to get back to the farm. There’s nothing like country living and the locals are some of the most friendliest people I’ve ever met. Keep that daydream alive, you just never know when it will come to reality. 🙂

I definitely don’t think I could make it on a farm. Maybe if I grew up on one things would be differently.

My hubby always says that God feeds the birds – we know this because they poop on our cars – so if He feeds the birds He will feed and care for us. Loved your post.
