Good Morning Divas! In today’s devotion, we will be looking at Psalms 141:3 “Help me, Lord, to keep my mouth shut and my lips sealed.” Whoa! That’s hard for some people…including me at times! In James 3:5, James wrote that “the tongue is a small thing, but what enormous damage it can do”.
On average, a person opens their mouth approximately 700 times a day to speak. That’s a lot of chatter! In the scripture we read above, David is asking God for help in keeping his mouth shut, even when he was going through persecution. Jesus himself was silent before his accusers (Matt 26:63).
Knowing the power of the tongue, we would do well to ask God to guard what we say so that our words will be honor to Him. Is that your prayer today? Lord, help me to keep my mouth shut, my lips sealed, and my ears open to hear from You. Amen
