The other day I was craving those big, sticky, messy, ooy-gooy, hot cinnamon buns found in the shopping malls. They just seem to melt in your mouth and with a cup of coffee, they are die for! So I decided to make my own and surprisingly they turned out just as delicious. Even The Boy (my son) loved them, so that’s a plus!
I started off with two mixing bowls and a deep dish pie stone (from Pampered Chef). I used canned biscuits, pancake syrup, butter, brown sugar and cinnamon. That’s it…see, super easy.
- 2 cans of biscuits (Pillsbury or store brand)
- 3 tbsp of butter (melted)
- 1/2 cup of pancake syrup
- 1/3 cup of packed brown sugar (I used light brown sugar)
- 1 tsp of cinnamon (use more if you really like the taste of cinnamon)
- add nuts if you choose (I add walnuts at times)
- 1. Spray your cooking dish with a cooking spray
- 2. In one of the mixing bowls, melt the butter and then mix in the pancake syrup
- 3. In the other mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar and cinnamon (and nuts)
- 4. Add 1/2 of the butter mixture to the bottom of the cooking dish
- 5. Add 1/2 of the sugar/cinnamon mixture on top of the butter mixture
- 6. Line your biscuits on the bottom of the pan overlapping the edges (pictured below)
- 7. Add the remaining sugar/cinnamon mixture to the top (pictured below)
- 8. Add the remaining butter mixture on top (pictured below)
- Bake at 375 for 25-30 minutes and cool for 1 minute.
- I found that at the half way mark (12 minutes or so), I had to roll the biscuits over so that they would bake all the way through. It makes for a nice little crunch with all the sticky goodness.
Ahh, now this is heavenly. Too bad the Internet doesn’t have smell-a-vision because your mouth would be watering right now!
See, this is a super easy recipe that you can whip up for unexpected guests or a women’s Bible study. Regardless what you bake it for, just bake it and enjoy! Do you like cinnamon? If so, in the comments section below, share some dishes that you use cinnamon.
That’s it for now. Until next time, wear your heels well and eat more cinnamon!
