To follow up my Top 10 Paid Apps for Women, I have compiled a list of the Top 10 Free Apps for Women. The goal was to create a list of apps real women would use in their every day lives.
1. Evernote (http://evernote.com)
Evernote stores notes in different forms. You can type notes manually, take a picture of handwritten notes, or take a picture of a typed document. You can create digital “Notebooks” to organize your notes based on their subjects. Alarms can be added to each note, so your phone will alert you of deadlines. It is available on all electronic devices.
2. Mint.com (https://www.mint.com/)
Mint.com is for the budget-conscious. It accesses your banking information, but it claims to use the same security measures as a bank. (PCMag named it one of their top apps, but warned you should download a security service on your phone for peace of mind.) It shows you in real time how much money you have and keeps track of your spending. You can create a budget, and your phone will alert you if you go over that budget.
3. WebMD (http://www.webmd.com/)
The WebMD website now has an app. It gives you access to all of the features available on the website in your hands, wherever you are. The app is great for those who want to live healthier lifestyles. You choose your interests, and the app customizes its content for you. The app also lets you search for nearby doctors, pharmacies, hospitals, etc and save them for future reference.
4. Lumosity Mobile (http://www.lumosity.com/)
Lumosity “trains” your brain. It asks a series of questions about what you want to improve; i.e. memory, attention-span, problem-solving. Lumosity then creates a customized series of games. It can take up to fifteen minutes of your day and if you can’t keep up with it every day, Lumosity keeps track of when you last played.
5. Evernote Food (http://evernote.com/food/)
Evernote Food is for foodies and cooks. Like Evernote, it is accessible from any device. You can search for restaurants based on your location and save them for later. The best feature is you can access recipe blogs from the app and save them to the app.
6. LivingSocial (https://www.livingsocial.com/)
LivingSocial is an app that gives discounts on local services. While the app is free, the service itself requires that you buy the discount in order to receive it. The deals are worth the price though. The website and app offers deals on food, auto care, spa treatments, resorts, and much more. There are savings available for every woman.
7. Yelp (http://www.yelp.com/)
Yelp is an app for finding local services. It gives you a list of services in a wide range of genres. You can search by type of service, and narrow your search by places that are open, price range, and distance. The app gives users the option to add reviews and give ratings, giving you a better idea of the experience you can expect.
8. Flipboard (https://flipboard.com/)
Flipboard streamlines your social networks and news on one page. It connects to your Twitter and/or Facebook and asks you questions about your interests. You then get your social networks and web pages related to the interests you’ve chosen in tiled pages. It’s great for keeping up with your social networks all at once, or getting news customized to your interests.
9. ooVoo (http://www.oovoo.com/home.aspx)
ooVoo is for making video calls, voice calls, and sending IM’s. It does not require fees to access certain features (group video calls, voice calls). And unlike FaceTime, ooVoo works while you are connected to WiFi and while using your phone’s data.
10. RunKeeper (http://runkeeper.com/)
RunKeeper is a great app for women who want to get in shape. You can enter your personal goals into the app and it will keep track of how close you are to those goals. It also keeps track of the routes you take in case you want to go the same way again. The app has a neat feature that coaches you through your headphones, giving you extra motivation.

Hi Kellie,
What a great list of apps! I use Evernote all the time and by now cannot live without it. It is so handy, especially when I get my “bright ideas” and need to put it somewhere that I can quickly retrieve.
Yelp is another go to for me. When I’m traveling I depend upon it to find things and decide where exactly I want to go..like a restaurant.
I have to look into the others mentioned.
Thanks so much,
