Oh Divas, I feel like starting over! I’m now into Week Two of the From Couch Potato to 5k program and I haven’t worked out since last Thursday. Wednesday night I started feeling sick to my stomach, just thought it was something that I ate but when I woke up Thursday there was a lot going on in the tummy. I’ll spare you the intimate bathroom details. 🙂 Also, I noted that the more I pushed myself the more intense headache I would get. I just marked it up as my body rebelling. However, I read an article that exercise is a trigger to a migraine. Hmm, with this knowledge I could so easily say that I’m not going to finish the program, but Divas…I’m no quitter! I just need to pay attention to my body and what it’s telling me. And besides, I REALLY want to get healthy!
So, tomorrow is Thursday which means that I work out with my personal trainer. He has a program called The Grind wherein we do a 5 minute warm-up and then he puts me through a strenuous 20 minute program of walking, lunges, squats, jumping jacks, and some other things that makes my legs feel like rubber bands. We then do a 5 minute warm down. What I love about this trainer is, he does the workout with me. Love him!! After The Grind, I do a lower body circuit at the gym.
I can do this! I can do this! I can do this! (Sorry, I have to keep telling myself this!) Now that I’m feeling better, tomorrow I will start again and keep pressing through!
Oh, one more thing, THANK YOU for all your well wishes, “go girl go”, “you can do this”, “so proud of you”, messages. I’m so encouraged by you and will make you proud!
Love you bunches!

Oh girl, it’s a tough one but I’m determined to finish it regardless of how many weeks it takes me. I am finding that my strength and endurance is building, which is a good thing.

Attitude is everything, and if you keep that going, you’ll be able to get back on track in no time!
Kelli Claypool says
Thank you, Tammy, for your encouragement. I’m definitely pressing through on this program. Appreciate you stopping by and leaving a comment. It has inspired me to continue! Thank YOU!!

Don’t feel bad. I made it to week three and had to start over. The important part is to not quit!
Kelli Claypool says
Thank YOU, Kathleen, for the encouragement. Fortunately my son is keeping me accountable to stay on course. I think I was on week 3 for 4 weeks. LOL!
Tiff @ Babes and Kids says
Yes, you CAN do this! You just have to keep telling yourself that. It’s mind over matter.
Kelli Claypool says
Thank you Tiff for the encouragement. It is mind over matter…sometimes “matter” screams louder. LOL! I will do this and appreciate your support! xoxoxo

I’m doing couch to 5k and I often repeat a day or back up when I’m not feeling like I’m ready for the next step. I think that getting out and doing something is what matters!
Dianna @ oyveyaday says
The headaches do not sound like fun. I am working on run/walk intervals and hope to finish a half marathon next year.
I have used some of the couch to 5k apps and think they are great. My advice – repeat each week until you feel comfortable with it – that’s not to say you should repeat it until it is easy… just until you can consistently complete it. You should always feel challenged, but moving up to the next week when you can hardly finish the current one just sets you up for failure. When I’ve used the apps, some weeks were a breeze, but some I had to repeat several times before I felt comfortable moving up.
Don’t push too hard… but do push yourself! Work at your own pace – don’t feel obligated to follow the pack.
