What to Do with Your Eyebrows This Spring

If the eyes are the windows to the soul, then the eyebrows are the door. Many don’t think about how the shape, texture and thickness of their eyebrows affect the look of their entire face. With some of this Spring’s stunning trends you might think twice about neglecting them.

In the past, eyebrows have gone through a lot of changes. We have seen trends that had them plucked within an inch of their lives. Then there was the no-eyebrow look when liner pencil replaced them instead. And, we have seen fuzzy caterpillars above the eyes. How about the “golden arches” look that resembled the McDonald’s logo on your face? Well, things have come full circle. It seems the fuzzy caterpillars are back in style.

The Look of Eyebrows

Let’s consider the eyebrow for a moment. It is a patch of hair that runs parallel to your brow bone. Depending on the arch of your bone, some people have straight eyebrow lines and some have arched ones.

The name of the game this Spring is “natural.” Whatever shape you choose or thickness or color, be sure that your eyebrows follow your natural degree of arch to avoid looking comical when you want to look sultry or seductive.

With that in mind, take a look at some of the ways that beauty is sporting its eyebrows this year.

Brushed up – Thick or thin, give those brows some depth with a good brushing. Remember Brooke Shields in “The Blue Lagoon”? Young people everywhere are giving this look another try. How do you achieve it? Take an eyebrow brush and brush those hairs in an upward direction. Use eyebrow gel or wax to sustain your look.

Stay outside the lines – No matter what style you sported, it was understood that your eyebrows had to conform to certain standards – a straight, even line. Now, it’s perfectly acceptable if your brows are less then perfectly groomed. When brushing your brows, leave the lowest row of hairs alone.

Go bold or go home – Make a statement with your brows by making them stand out. Even blonds are going dark with their brows. Try a darker brow color to add the wow factor to your look. For a more dramatic look, use an eyebrow pencil to shade them in even bolder to contrast with the rest of your look.

Thick and thin – Some models on the runway this season still sported the thinner brow look. But, they didn’t pluck mercilessly. Instead, concealer was used to cover the brows and a pencil was used to reshape them.
